Canada Lands Company acquired the two-acre (0.8 hectare) former RCMP site located at 3151 Oxford Street in December 2016. Another building located at 3139 Oxford Street is currently occupied by Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and is anticipated to be acquired by Canada Lands once CBSA moves in spring 2019. The Oxford Street properties are bound to the north by the Department of National Defence’s Windsor Park site and to the southeast and southwest by existing residential.

Located on the property was the former RCMP Forensics Laboratory, which consisted of two buildings. Both structures have been demolished. The main building was two storeys and was built in 1977. A secondary one-storey, pre-fabricated structure was used as office and storage space.

3139 Oxford Street was the former site of RCMP headquarters in the Atlantic region. The property contains a four-storey office building constructed in 1974.

Canada Lands launched a broad-based community consultation process in 2018, similar to what it did for Shannon Park, to ensure that the community has input into the redevelopment of these properties.

A public open house was held in March 2019. The next phase in the pubic consultation process will be a workshop and community pop-up, where three development concepts based on the urban design principles that were identified at the open house will be presented. Feedback and input from the community will assist in preparing a preferred development concept, to be presented in the summer 2019.

Please note that work has begun toward the deconstruction of the former RCMP forensics laboratory building located 3151 Oxford Street. You will notice increased activity, however construction crews will be accessing the property from Oxford Street only and have been directed not use other streets in the neighbourhood. Fencing has been erected around the building and crews will soon start working on removing the interior. The deconstruction of the building itself will begin in early July after schools in the area have been let out for the summer. Every effort will be made to minimize inconveniences to the community. This work should be completed by the Fall. For safety reasons we kindly ask that residents keep at a distance from the construction area.
