Vancouver, British Columbia
The Jericho Lands property, formerly owned by the Department of National Defence, is approximately 52 acres (21 hectares) and located in the West Point Grey neighbourhood of Vancouver. The property is bounded on the north by 4th Avenue, Highbury Street to the east, 8th Avenue to the south.
This property was acquired on October 1, 2014 by The Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations and Canada Lands Company in an historic joint venture. The agreement will see the joint venture partners working side-by-side with local communities and municipalities to establish a new vision for this site.
A comprehensive planning and public engagement program began in March 2019. This process co-hosted by CLC and MST with the City of Vancouver will take approximately two years to complete and will lead to the development of a comprehensive plan and policy statement for the site. CLC and its joint venture partners are collaborating fully in process and welcomes the community’s views and ideas on the site development potential.
The first Inspire Jericho Talk was hosted on April 23, 2019 on the topic of Healthy Cities: Building Great Neighbourhoods and featured speaker Charles Montgomery speaking on his work on Happy Cities. The session was fully subscribed and more watched from the livestream.
